Your know you are an architecture student when you’re measuring the school’s step height for some reference, and a guy walks by saying “18.5 cm.”
You know the importance of every mm.
You always ask “AM or PM” when people tell you about time.“I’m going to finish this model by 5!” “AM or PM?”
“Shit! I slept at 4 yesterday.” “AM or PM?”
You have probably dealt with so much amount of stationary that other people would not even do in their entire life.
You’re the smartest man in the room.
Your home actually turns into your second home and your studio, home.
However weird this may be, the past four months of my life have been one hell of a ride.
Anyways, budding architects are the most interesting yet uncanny people I have come across (being one). Here’s my really short list of the kind of people that I have been dealing for the past four months.
- “Engineering nahi karna tha yar“
Right from JEE flunkers to PACE toppers, there is always this one person who got so sick and thought that taking architecture was his easy way out. I feel sorry for these people.
- The Inheritor
They have an architect blood-line that makes them believe they will inherit the archi-gene, and sometimes, they just might!
- The Procrastinator
Architects have a great tradition of procrastination. Inspite of all this time, they will still start the model at 11. “PM”
- The Already Architect
These are the kind of people who have already declared themselves as architects, and then taken admission to the school. These people are not at all hilarious. Everybody hates these guys.
- The Serious.
Hey, you coming for breakfast?
-Nope. Sheets.
Hey, lunch?
-Umm, Sheets?
Hey, there’s this cool James Bond movie, are you comi..
-NO
I’ll end my list here. All the budding architects out there can surely relate to me. If you have anything more to add, you are always welcome to comment.
This course never fails to surprise me every now and then. I hope to find and meet many more fun people in the coming 9.5 semesters.
I guess I have found what I love, and now I’ll let it kill me. Embrace the beauty of design and detail. Gulp down every good and bad things that come in my way.
It’s true what they say
“Architecture is the mother of all arts.”
Cheers in the name of my short and first blog attempt.
Until next time.
